The Interpretation Center of the Lines of Torres Vedras and Alqueidão Circuit are located in the western region 40 km North from Lisbon and 30km from the beach in Santa Cruz (West Coast). A territory that offers various activities and diverse environments to experience.

Tuesdays to Sundays from 10:30AM to 13:00PM and from 14:00PM to 18:30PM
Closed on Mondays and Holidays.

How to get here

From Lisbon A8 exit at Pero Negro
From Oporto A1 exit at Carregado and follow to the A10 exit at Arruda dos Vinhos. After take N248 until Sobral de Monte Agraço.
From Faro A22 (or Via do Infante) direction to Lisbon, then A2 e A12 (Ponte Vasco da Gama), A8 exit at Pero Negro. From here please follow N374 and N248-1 until Sobral de Monte Agraço.
From Lisbon Take Boa Viajem coach line from Lisboa (at Campo Grande) to Sobral de Monte Agraço.
Linha do Oeste West Line (Linha do Oeste) leave at Pero Negro station (which is 8 km from Sobral de Monte Agraço, you can take a taxi).

This facility comprises two parking lots, the one by the road of Fort Alqueidão it is reserved for visitors with reduced mobility.

Norms & Recommendations

To visit it is to respect and protect the future!

What you cannot do at ICLTV:

  • Bring your pets/animals
  • To eat or drink in the rooms
  • To run
  • To smoke
  • To lean against the pillars of the room
  • Photographing or filming without permission
  • Use your phone to keep conversation or capture images
  • To enter with backpack, luggage or large objects or umbrella(These objects should be left at the entrance)
  • The Center for Interpretation of the Lines of Torres Vedras is not responsible for the safekeeping of any object

Others norms to visit ICLTV & Alqueidão Circuit:

  • Children should always be accompanied by an adult
  • Follow the orientations of the mediator guiding the visits
  • Wheelchairs and strollers are allowed
  • In case of any accident or unusual event, this should be reported immediately to the mediator guiding the visit or, in his/her absence, the person responsible for group.
  • In case of high influx of visitors ICLTV can restricted access temporarily.

What you cannot do at Alqueidão Circuit:

The archaeological heritage is fragile and non-renewable cultural asset. The protection of this monument-site is the responsibility of all who visit it and enjoy it

  • Walk only on signaled path within the Circuit
  • Do not stand nor sit on the military architectural structures (gun platforms | powder magazines | traverses) that are properly identified
  • Do not scoop samples from the archaeological site
  • Do not destroy the signage or information boards
  • Avoid loud noises and attitudes which disturb the peace of the place
  • Do not damage the flora
  • Do not throw trash/waste on the ground
  • Do not make any fire, please use the appropriate area at the visitor support facility
  • The monument is forbidden to all types of vehicles

Norms & recommendations to visit Alqueidão Circuit:

  • Use comfortable shoes
  • Use clothing suitable to the weather forecast and season
  • Panama hat or cap

Groups:

  • All groups should previously book their visit, even if you don't want a guided tour of activities to be delivered by the educational staff program services;

  • Teachers and/or tutors of the group are responsible for the behavior and safety of their members.
    ICLTV will not assume any responsibility on behalf of teachers and/or tutors. Failure to meet the standards of ICLTV and Alqueidão Circuit will imply the end of the visit.
